Village in the Tyrolean mountains, 5 km (3 miles) outside Innsbruck, with a medieval church and a Baroque pilgrimmage chapel. In the 19th century a summer vacation resort for Innsbruck residents, Igls became an international winter resort during the 20th century, later to host the Winter Olympic Games in 1964 and 1976.

Heinrich and Jeanette spent the summer of 1932 there, arriving on June 15 and departing for Vienna via Salzburg September 10. Schenker frequented the Café Stern most days.
