Austrian critic and author, studied law (as did Schenker) at Vienna University, and music with Bruckner (as did Schenker) and Fuchs at the Vienna Conservatory, became critic of the Grazer Tagespost in 1900 taking over its editorship in 1908, in 1920 he joined the Neues Wiener Tagblatt , resigning in 1938. He wrote books on Wolf, Bruckner, Johann Strauß, Debussy, and others.
