Eusebius Mandyczewski erhalte ich Nachricht, daß das Manuscript zu op. 109 sich in Wien bei Frau Poldy Wittgenstein befindet. ² Ich glaube, Ihnen davon Mitteilung machen zu müssen u. freue mich sehr der besonderen Gunst der Situation. Wegen der übrigen Manuscripte der letzten Sonaten werde ich aber, wenn ich nicht irre, nach Berlin (Kgl. Bibl.) reisen müssen. Doch hat es noch Zeit. Ihr Urteil über den Urtext hat mir übrigens auch Prof. Rudorff bestätigt, der ja mit Joachim die Anregung dazu gegeben hat.

I have received news from Dr. Eusebius Mandyczewski that the autograph manuscript of Op. 109 is in Vienna, in the possession of Mrs. Poldy Wittgenstein. ² I believe that I ought to let you know about this, and I am delighted by the particularly favorable circumstance. With regard to the remaining autograph manuscripts for the last sonatas I shall, if I am not mistaken, have to travel to the Royal Library in Berlin. But there is still time for that. Your judgement about the Urtext, moreover, is something that was confirmed by Prof. Rudorff, who did indeed inspire Joachim to do this.
