Wenn es irgend möglich ist, 2 mir in Bälde die ganz wenigen restierenden letzten Fahnen zukommen zu lassen, so wäre ich dafür ganz besonders verpflichtet! Ich habe die dringendsten Gründe, 3 vor Juli mit den Halbband fertig zu werden. Nochmals bestens im Vorhinein dankend

1 Writing of this letter is not recorded in Schenker's diary. The diary records at OJ 1/9, p. 112, April 13, 1910: "Nachmittag 3h. macht mir Prof. Rettich , den ich zufällig auf der Strasse treffe, Hoffnung auf Baron Alph .’ Förderung auch des II2 . ("3 o'clock in the afternoon: Prof. Rettich, whom I encounter by chance on the street, gives me hope for Baron Alphons's support of Counterpoint 2 as well."). Alphons Rothschild had paid the publication costs of Harmonielehre and Counterpoint 1, and Schenker was hoping that this patronage would continue for future Cotta publications; Professor Rettich was his private secretary and adviser.

2 ist ... wäre: mixture of indicative and subjunctive voice rendered all subjunctive in translation.

3 i.e. his departure for Summer holidays (recorded in Schenker's diary, OC 1/5, p.118, July 3, 1910).
