Career Summary
Max Hölz was a German communist and author of Vom weißen Kreuz zur roten Fahne [From white cross to red flag] (published in 1929). In 1921, Hölz was accused of the murder of an estate owner by the name of Heß and sent to life in prison, but in July 1928 he was acquitted on all charges and released.
In a letter to Schenker, Walter Dahms refers to Hölz's pardon when his own legal problems with the German judiciary remained unresolved (OJ 10/1, [103], Nov 23, 1928).
