Ney and the Schenker circle

Schenker's diary records having heard her on two occasions:

  • Jan 6, 1921: "In the evening a concert Ney: Beethoven E-flat major Concerto, Mendelssohn Ruy Blas and Brahms II. conducted by her husband: a cinema spectacle"
  • Nov 15, 1925: "on the radio: ... [Beethoven,] E-flat major Piano Concerto (Ney) ..."

Oswald Jonas, in a letter to Schenker (OC 44/9, October 27, 1934) reports having received a letter of congratulations on his newly published book Das Wesen des musikalischen Kunstwerks from Ney, "who also sent me an invitation to her soirée this evening."
