Deutsche Nothilfe and Schenker
Schenker used the Deutsche Nothilfe as a conduit for passing money into Germany for the stipends created by Sofie Deutsch. Late in 1923, he donated 2 million Kronen for use by impecunious German composers. This money was sent via his brother, Moriz Schenker, and the money was ultimately awarded to the composer Hermann Wunsch (OJ 12/31, [1], Dec 7, 1923; diary entires Nov 21, 1923, Dec 18, 1923, Feb 2, 1924).
