Footnotes

1 Receipt of this postcard is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 3/1, p. 2294, November 4, 1920: "Von Weisse (express): erbittet Hilfe zur Durchführung Brahms op. 8." ("From Weisse (express): requests help with the development section of Brahms Op. 8."). (Weisse for lunch; I promise help only for [Weisse's own?] compositions; I invite him for Saturday, he turns that down because it is impossible; so I arrange for Monday."). The latter meeting is recorded at OJ 3/1, p. 2295, November 8, 1920: "abends Weisse, macht hübsche Bemerkungen zur Vorrede, überbringt Einladung zu Frau Gutherz." ("in the evening, Weisse; makes nice remarks about the Foreword; brings invitation to Mrs. Gutherz.").

2 At this point, Weisse changes writing implement from pen to pencil. The address at the top is also in pencil.

3 Turezky : possibly the name of a Viennese restaurateur.
