1 Receipt of this letter is recorded in Schenker’s diary for January 3, 1922: “Von Frau Rubinraut u. Frl. Fried Neujahrsgruß.” (“From Mrs. Rubinraut and Miss Fried New Year's greetings.”). This document is written on the verso of a page of notes on Beethoven, Piano Sonata in Bę major, Op. 106, first movement.

2 Komárno (Hungarian: Komárom): since 1919, a town in Czechoslovakia at the confluence of the Danube and Váh rivers. In 1938 it was returned to Hungary, and is today in Slovakia.
