Swedish novelist, writer, and playwright, one of the pioneers of modern European theater, and an early exponent of expressionism. His plays include Miss Julie (1888), The Dance of Death (1900), A Dream Play (1902), and The Ghost Sonata (1907).
Schenker, who had an especially strong interest in the theatrical works of the Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen, with whom Strindberg is associated, mentions Strindberg occasionally in his diaries and elsewhere.
