So this lady who in her first letter had pompously announced to me a gift of 40 Kronen per month until February, with a gesture to which only the greediest sentiment can give rise, this very lady, I say, not only came to all of her lessons but also took upon herself the duties of teaching and, for instance, to cut Miss Kahn from her pupils!"
