Footnotes1 This is the first in a series of “für Kogan” references, the later ones dating to October 26 and 29, 1914, all in lesson notes for Sofie Deutsch. There is also a diary reference for March 11, 1915 starting: “Mrs. Deutsch asks me to hear and examine little Miss Kogan …” A Miss Kogan had two lessons with Schenker in June 1913. She would appear to have been a protégée of Mrs. Deutsch, the simple Handel piece being for Kogan while the Beethoven and Brahms are part of Mrs. Deutsch’s regular lesson. |
