Footnotes
1 Henrik Ibsen in fact died on March 23, 1906. The first
performance of Wild Duck was given at the Theater an
der Wien on May 23, as reported in the
Neue freie Presse
on that date, and
retrospectively on May 24 in which review it records Ibsen's death. Hence Schenker
simply has the date wrong.
