Samstag früh!

Sehr verehrter Herr Schenker, 1

Saturday morning!

Greatly revered Mr. Schenker, 1

Is it possible for us to get together this evening (Saturday) at the restaurant indicated by you (Meißl), maybe at 7:30 p.m.? If that does not suit you, then perhaps you could leave word with [my] servant. Please forgive such short notice. Hoping that we can see each other this evening.

Yours very truly,
[signed:] Wilhelm Furtwängler

Footnotes

1 This letter is undated by Furtwängler. In the top-right corner, "1927" is written in another hand (probably that of Oswald Jonas). In Schenker's diary there is no Saturday in the whole of 1927 on which receipt of a communication from Furtwängler is recorded, or any meeting reported. After the Schenkers' move from Reisnerstrasse to Keilgasse in May 1921, Meißl would have been less convenient for Schenker.
