Footnotes1 Receipt of this letter is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 4/2, p. 3297, December 3, 1928: "Von der U.-E. (Br.): Hertzka kommt Mitte des Monats nach Wien zurück." ("From UE (letter): Hertzka will return to Vienna at the middle of the month."). This letter exists in two sources: OC 52/846, the dispatched letter with printed letterhead and signatures, and WSLB 401, the carbon copy lacking letterhead and both signatures but initialed. 2 = WSLB 400. That the date was typed in later is evident from the carbon copy where a gap was initially left into which the date was entered by hand; "wir" (we) was initially typed as "ich" (I) and then erased and retyped as "wir," as is evident from the carbon copy where the error is corrected by hand. |
