Footnotes

Of Beethovens neunte Sinfonie : 11 = pp. 161–76; 12 = pp. 177–92; 16 = pp. 241–56 [Eng. transl., pp. 156‒70, 170‒82, 221‒33].

Niloff, Instrumentations-Tabelle, the second edition of which was released on May 7 and August 23 (2,000 copies). — "Vorbemerkungen sind pünktlich einge-" (Preliminary Remarks have ar(rived) on time), and "Betrag ... angewiesen" ("authorized ... Kronen") underlined by Schenker in crayon.

= OC 52/410, July 2, 1920, which refers back to this matter in detail. The annotation and sidelining must thus have been added at Universal Edition around that date.

See Schenker's remark in the first paragraph of WSLB 103, March 19, 1912. — “Korrektur” (“correction”) double-underlining and surrounding quotation-marks in crayon probably by Schenker.
