Footnotes1 Writing of this letter is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 4/4, p. 3660, September 14, 1931: "An Salzer (Br.): die Stunde soll festgesetzt werden." (To Salzer (letter): the lesson time must be set."). 2 The visit took place two days later, as recorded in the diary at OJ 4/4, p. 3661, September 16, 1931. The schedule to be set was that of the seminar composed of Salzer, Trude Kral, Greta Kraus, and Manfred Willfort, which was to begin its meetings in October of 1931. Schenker’s letter to Salzer of November 6, 1931 (FS 40/1, [4]) gives details of the schedule and honorarium. 3 Schenker’s article, "Ein verschollener Brief von Mozart und das Geheimnis seines Schaffens," was published in Der Kunstwart, 44/10 (July 1931), pp. 660–66. Schenker sent the article to others, including von Cube (as mentioned in his letter to von Cube of June 30, 1931, OJ 5/7a, [38]) and Elsa Bienenfeld. In her letter of thanks, OC 50/14, July 15, 1931, Bienenfeld questions the authenticity of the Mozart letter Schenker discusses. |
